This little trick may save you some time and frustration the next time you remove handlebar grips on a bicycle, motorcycle, dirt bike, ATV, or anything else that has handlebars. This does not include mustaches!

Replacing Old Grips

Rubber grips fit tightly onto the ends of the handlebar. In some cases the grips may be glued on as well. This makes it difficult to remove, especially if the grip has been on for a few years.

The Trick

Hopefully you have an air compressor or know someone who has one you can use. All you have to do is force air between the grip and the handlebar.  Pull up on the grip where it meets the bar and insert the end of the air compressor nozzle. You only have to create a small opening to insert the end of the air nozzle.  Allow air to blow between the grip and the bar. This will expand the rubber grip allowing it to easily slip off the handlebar. That is all there is to it.

You will be amazed at how effective this works.
