Do you like to play Ping Pong? Do you have more than 4 players that want to play at the same time? We often like to take a break at the office, get away from the computer monitors, and get the blood pumping. Usually we have more than 4 players that want to join in the fun. Rather than have people standing around waiting to play, we started to play what we call The Runaround.

Game Rules:

Players line up on both ends of the ping pong table. The side with the most players serves first. The player that serves the ball then runs around the table to the opposite side, hence the name "The Runaround".

The player that receives the serve then runs around to the opposite side and lines up behind the last person in line. Each player takes his\her turn at returning the ball in succession. We usually like to run around the table counter clockwise. The one who misses a shot or does not successfully hit the ball on the table, is out.

The players continue until there are only 2 people left.

Then the game is like normal Ping Pong rules except for one variation. The players have to spin around in a full circle after successfully hitting the ball. First one to fail returning the ball is out. The other player then scores one point. That lucky person may be a bit dizzy but a winner indeed!

We like to play until someone scores 3 points.

We always have a hoot playing "The Runaround"!  It gets everyone involved and it is good exercise. Give it a try; you may even come up with your own variation of this game!

Be sure the environment you play in is safe, that there is enough room to safely run around the table without getting hurt.

Have fun!
